Scope of this Support Privacy Policy

This Support Privacy Policy applies to our processing of any personal data which you submit to us when sending feedback or a support request. If you would like to know how your privacy is protected when using our search engine, please click here.

Purpose for Processing Personal Information

You have the option of visiting our support center or contacting us directly when sending feedback or support requests. Startpage processes personal data to share with our Support team. We use the information you provided (such as your email address and your specific feedback or request), solely to address and reply to your request.  By using our support form or email to send us your feedback or support request, you consent to this Support Privacy Policy.

We use Zendesk to power our support center and process your feedback submitted through the support form or support request. Zendesk is a global company headquartered in the United States. Startpage and Zendesk have taken appropriate safeguards to protect your personal data when using Zendesk to handle your support request:

  1. Zendesk has implemented binding corporate rules (BCRs), which have been approved by the appropriate privacy supervisory authority.
  2. We have made use of the option to bind Zendesk to standard contractual clauses made by the European Commission in order to protect your privacy.
  3. We have worked with Zendesk to eliminate tracking cookies, and we are serving only non-tracking cookies that are required for the site to function.

The required cookies are:

  • _help_center_session
  • _zendesk_session
  • _zendesk_shared_session
  • _cfruid

For more information about these cookies, visit Zendesk.

If you do not want Zendesk to be used to handle your support inquiry, then you can send an email to [email protected]. Please note that it may take slightly longer to receive responses via email.

The legal basis for processing your information is your consent, and our legitimate interest to respond to your message.

Retention period

Measures against abuse of support

If your message is abusive in language or content, we may block further messages from you.

Your rights with respect to your data
